He was the second rated defenseman in the entire draft, and his soft touch on passes, as well as his stellar defense, make this a pretty understandable ranking. He is a great puck handler, and he is a very talented skater as well. The Nicklas Lidstrom comparisons are appropriate, as Larsson controls the flow of the game with his dynamic skill, vision, and poise with the puck. He is a beautiful player to watch that quarterbacks the play coming out of his own end and has the ability to orchestrate plays through his stellar passing game
2. Chris Kreider
has NHL frame and possesses a great touch around the net. The power forward is also a beautiful skater — likely the best skater in the draft. He’ll need some time to develop, but is an intriguing sleeper. From various scouting reports, he is noted to see the ice well, is a good playmaker, and has a nice shot with a quick release.
3. Arron Palushaj
Palushaj isn't tall or thick, but he's a great skater, has superb vision, and he's a pretty good finisher around the net.
4. Patrick Wiercioch
At six-four and over 200 pounds, he's a presence whenever he's on the ice. Wiercioch has a big shot, isn't afraid to use it, and also is a very good passer. His skating still needs some work. Big, puck-moving, defensemen who can really skate are tough to find. They can turn into great players for your team. Patrick Wiercioch looks like he is on the verge of becoming that kind of player.
5. Jake Allen
He displays excellent lateral movement and strong positional play, and has proven that he can play well when the focus is on him. Allen is always on his toes and moves quickly between the pipes. He’s great at moving the puck, feeding the puck to open defenders to quickly spur on the attack. He’s also strong at controlling the puck when he makes a save, limiting rebounds and keeping square to the shooter.
6. Richard Panik
Panik is a gifted puck-handler and has tremendous offensive upside. The team that takes a shot on this guy might just be rewarded with a Hossa like player 3 to 4 years down the road.
